Nrityanjali
Nrityanjali started in 1989 to promote forgotten
traditional folk dance/theatre forms and in 1991 it started
it's Folk.
In 1992 P.Narsing Rao, produced & directed 'Vishwavilapam'('Cry
of Universe') a dance ballet. The ballet mainly potrays
the importance of protecting the 5 elements of Nature. This
ballet was well recieved and applauded by the audience as
well as the T.V and Print Media. Then the same ballet was
presented in Schools/Colleges and in remote villages of
Andhra Pradesh.
In year 1993 another ballet called "Mutyapuchippalu"
was produced & directed. Looking at the response of
these ballets, DDS & Forest Department of Andhra Pradesh
supported the performances of these ballets in schools.
In the year 1994 a Street Drama on AIDS was produced &
directed by P.Narsing Rao. Even this drama was recieved
well by the audience and print media.
In 1997 Information & Broadcasting Department then APSACS
supported the organisation to conduct 120 Street Drama shows
in 120 slums of Hyderabad & Secunderabad. Along with
Street Drama workshops & training programmes on HIV/AIDS
were conducted for women leaders of the slums.
In 1995 Secretariat, Netherlands has supported the organisation
with a project on 'Urban pollution waste management &
general awareness' in 6 slums in Secunderabad. The main
focus of the project is to develop Vermicompost Manure &
use the same as economic generation activity for women.
In 1995 Dept. of Environment & Forests sanctioned a
project for the organisation to start 35 eco clubs in 35
schools. In 1999 with the help of DFID & APSACS sanctioned
a project on "Partnership on Sexual Health" for
Nrityanjali. In year 2000 DESH of Chennai supported the
organisation RCH project with 2000 families.. In year 2002
Nrityanjali started the CRS (Catholic Relief Services),
Home & Community based Care & Support Programme
for PLWHA.
In year 2003 FHI & CRS supported the CAA OVC project.
During all these years, Nrityanjali was parellely promoting
Folk Dances through Cultural Teams through
Folk Festivals organised in India. School Students were
the main focus to make them know the importance of culture
& folk traditionsn of Andhra Pradesh.
From 1999, the organisation started planning Folk Performances
in International arena. Few of the Nrityanjali International
performances are:
- 1999 - Navarasa Festival in France
- 2000 - Indeginous Cultural Festival in Taiwan
- 2002 - Hand Drum Folk Dance Festival in Taiwan
- 2002 - Andhra Cultural Festival in USA
- 2003 - Andhra Cultural Festival in USA
- 2004 - MAZU International Folk Dance Festival in Taiwan
Over the years Nrityanjali has to it's credit of producing,
directing & choregraphing the following dance ballets:
- Quit India
- Kelika
- Veda
- Mohini Bhasmasura
- Mana Pandugalu
- Seetha Kalyanam
- Timmadu
With dual roles of Socio-Cultural Activities the organisation
has been able to develop & promote innovative approaches
like Training Programmes, Film Production, IEC/BCC material
& awareness shows, making Nrityanjali a distinct a Socio-Cultural
Organisation in India.
