The
audiences complimented Mathuri dance performance at various places
in open stadium and in the village of Taiwan as simply unforgettable.
The dance of village folk of the Umji and Indravelli forest areas
of Utnoor Taluk in Adilabad District of Andhra Pradesh state did
not fail to enthuse the Taiwanese and other international audience.
Performed on the occasion of Krishna Astami in Sravana Masam the
dance is in praise of Lord Krishna. The colorful dress of the dancers,
specially of the females looks just of the world creation. Male
dancers hold a colored handkerchief and a stick in their hands while
dancing.
The team used the original instruments used in the Dance called
as Sutta, Tasha or Nagara, Dappu to retain the ethnic sounds. Because
of the unique Hair Style of the female dancers, they are also called
as Koppu Lambadi.
Comparing the Male and Female Dance performances, the Dance of Women
is very slow in tempo whereas the Male version is Fast and vigorous.
